Benefits of BECBC Membership

Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (formerly West Cumbria Business Cluster) is a private sector led group of over 300 organisations, ranging in size from sole traders and SME businesses to global blue-chip corporations.

Our diverse and growing membership include international, specialist and highly competitive companies - many of which that offer high value jobs in the region - as well as those in the supply chain and companies key to Cumbria's rural economy.

The Cluster was founded in 2003 in response to concerns about the impact of decommissioning of civil nuclear facilities on the supply chain and the wider economy of West Cumbria. Now firmly established, we help our member companies share knowledge and market intelligence and build links with research and development and business support organisations. We actively support them to promote their individual capabilities.

Membership of Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster brings a wide range of benefits, including:

Networking and sharing of knowledge
Monthly member meetings, social activities and members working together to improve skills.

Market intelligence and winning work
Sharing information on business opportunities, facilitating networking meetings with, and presentations by, client organisations, supporting member to member selling and the formation of consortia.

Collaboration
Representation at key local, regional and national levels individually and in conjunction with local partners under Britain’s Energy Coast banner; schools, academic, charitable and community organisations.

Marketing
Attendance at conferences and exhibitions in the UK and overseas, hosting of inward investor visits in conjunction with West Lakes Renaissance, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Invest in Cumbria, development of promotional material.

Web-based services

Membership is open to all businesses based in Cumbria, or those businesses based elsewhere that can demonstrate business interests in West Cumbria and are willing to commit to our values, including:

  • Pool our collective business knowledge
  • Share opportunities and information
  • Educate the local and wider business community about our individual and collective capabilities
