Community Energy 2016 – What Now?
This conference will explore the latest challenges and opportunities for community energy in Cumbria. Following a number of policy changes in energy this is an ideal opportunity to inform and encourage communities and local authorities to continue taking action on energy. The conference will look at the continuing potential for renewable energy, and beyond this to energy management in homes and communities and how projects can be funded.

Retrofitting Buildings for Energy Efficiency :: Day 1 :: First Steps in Retrofitting
This is the first day in Cumbria Action for Sustainability's (CAfS) CPD accredited course – Refurbishing Buildings for Energy Efficiency – suitable for building professionals to experienced hobbyists.
This first day is an introduction to the concept of retrofitting of existing buildings, why it is necessary and the specific issues to consider when looking at the options available for improving the energy performance of this particular building type.
The day will also look at current legislation and incentives; the existing methods of assessing energy performance and their limitations as well as recent research and improvements in our understanding of traditional building performance. The course will consist of illustrated lectures.
