This iconic skyline is now undergoing a process of great change. The First Generation Reprocessing Plant Stack was constructed and commissioned in the 1950s and has stood ever since, but not for much longer. Come and hear Innis talk about an innovative solution for demolishing a stack on what is one of the most congested industrial sites in the UK. Innis will talk about the principles behind the stack climber, how it climbs and grips the stack, how problems faced and solutions generated have contributed to the success of the stack demolition project, an industry first. IMechE Talk: Workington Transport Hub Project

Workington Transport Hub is one of a number of multi-mode transport interchanges being constructed in West Cumbria to promote better use of public transport.  The site presented several challenges including dealing with contaminated ground and the need for a drainage attenuation system. This talk will discuss the innovative solutions adopted and how construction work was planned and completed.
