L3 Supervising First Aid for Mental Health Course

1st June 2019 — 2nd June 2019

This 2 day weekend course (1 and 2 June 2019) is designed to aid anyone who cannot take time away from work in the working week.
Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition either themselves or a family member, friend or colleague.

The course covers a wide range of mental health conditions and goes into detail on the range of therapy and professional support that a person may be given by professional bodies during treatment for a mental health condition.

The course is suitable for all persons within a workplace but is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and have responsibility for implementing a positive mental health culture and responsibility for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) West Cumbria Area Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday 27th June 2019 at the Lakes College West Cumbria, Lillyhall, Workington, with the Chief Executive of the IMechE, Dr Colin Brown CEng FIMechE FIMMM, and Baroness Brown of Cambridge DBE FREng FRS as our guests of honour.
This year’s dinner will once again be linked to a high profile Science Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Education Outreach Event. This year’s event is called “Our Worlld iin 2050”, and is linked to our Engineering Sustainability theme. Details of the STEM event can be found on page 7.
As usual, the dinner will include the presentation of the Lakes College West Cumbria Best HNC and HND Student Awards.
This autumn also sees the Rugby Union World Cup being held in Japan, for both the men’s and women’s national teams. To celebrate this, we are delighted to announce that our guest after dinner speaker will be Tamara Taylor, who represented England at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2017 World Cups, winning the trophy in 2014, and captained England in the 2015 Women's Six Nations Championship.
