AppFit is an event co-ordinated by the BECBC Shadow Board aimed at supporting the right people into apprenticeships.
Jason Savage is leading this project:
"There are many young people in our community that would make fantastic apprentices, but lack the administrative skills to pass the three elements of the application process – Application Form, Aptitude Test and Interview.
Too often as businesses we take on young people into apprenticeships for which they are overqualified which results in them completing the scheme and moving out of that area or discipline because they realise they are under-employed – this leaves a gap in the business. If as businesses we recruit the right people into the right apprenticeships we not only give those people a job, we effectively meet the original business need.
AppFit is there to make employing the right apprentices possible by getting those people to the standard required to get through the door – levelling the playing field.
As well as the structured support AppFit is also an opportunity for businesses to showcase what they offer young people in Cumbria whether that is Apprenticeships, Internships or Work Experience. AppFit is for ALL apprenticeships in EVERY sector of the county.
The BECBC Shadow Board would appreciate your support in the form of taking an exhibition stand at our AppFit event, showcasing the great opportunities you offer for our young people."
