Due to the unique nature of construction projects and the accompanying uncertainties and risk allocation, many contracts and subcontracts suffer from overruns to the completion date. It is essential for all those involved, to properly understand their contractual responsibilities and ensure compliance with the contract term.
This course will cover the main issues relating to delay, extension of time and liquidated damages. Recent case law will be considered along with the SCL Protocol and its recent update. Appropriate reference will be made to the standard forms of contract including JCT and NEC.
