“A fusion of academic conference, business fair and music festival”

The University of Cumbria are involved in an international research festival on leadership, sustainability and wellbeing  from July 16th - 18th 2015 at Brathay Hall in Ambleside.

Organised by the Institute for Leadership and Sustainability (IFLAS, University of Cumbria) and Brathay Trust, this three-day research festival will offer fresh insight, new ideas and rejuvenation to scholars, leadership development professionals, corporate responsibility executives, and social change practitioners.

A multi-sector and inter-disciplinary conference of people from over 40 countries, the festival will explore critical concepts of wellbeing, leadership and sustainability, through an experiential approach – utilising creative reflection and activities.

The festival will include:

  •           Plenary keynotes, panels and paper presentations
  •           Facilitated reflection through, creative activities, boat trips, tai chi, music, dancing and festivities
  •           A side programme of events run by sustainability advisors Futerra
  •           The launch of an ongoing interdisciplinary network on leadership, sustainability and wellbeing
  •           An emerging leaders strand
  •           A children and young people’s summer holiday’s activity programme

A range of important thinkers and business leaders on both leadership and sustainability are attending. They include senior executives from the Italian fashion giant Zegna, the French conglomerate L'Oreal, the bank UBS, communications agency Futerra, the environmental organisation WWF and the United Nations.
