Enhance your professional knowledge and skills relating to how to refurbish and improve existing buildings and housing stock when dealing with damp, flood resilience and insulation. The day will focus on helping you determine the best approach for retrofitting older, traditional buildings (pre 1920’s), taking into account the nature of its construction and an understanding of how water from flooding and extreme rainfall affects buildings.
There will be the opportunity to see some techniques in practice at 33A Chapel Street, Appleby, a privately-owned flooded house which is being renovated and features in a unique project.
This workshop is ideal for builders, contractors, architects, building control professionals.
The workshop will be delivered by Cumbria Action for Sustainability and James Innerdale, BA (Hons), DipArch, an architect specialising in repair and conservation of historic buildings.
