SKA Industry Day

27th April 2016 (all day)   Download to calendar

10.00am to 5.00pm at BIS Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1 0ET

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is an international project to build a radio telescope tens of times more sensitive and hundreds of times faster at mapping the sky than today’s best radio astronomy facilities. It will be the world’s largest radio telescope. The SKA will be the world’s largest public science data project. Once completed it will generate data at a rate more than 10 times today’s global Internet traffic. Power management is a key challenge for the SKA project and we would like to make links with energy companies.

Adriaan Schutte who is responsible for management and coordination of all power consumption, distribution and supply within the SKA project will be attending and would like to meet energy companies.

The commercial Expertise Required is:

  • Islanded solar power stations
  • Energy storage systems
  • Funding of remote power systems
  • Operation and maintenance of remote power systems
