Most people have witnessed or experienced the impact cancer can have on someone close to them and it is more commonly known to affect parts of the body, such as lungs or breast. However, cancer can also occur in the mouth, where the disease can affect the lips, tongue, cheeks and throat. It was thought to affect people over the age of 40 particularly men, research has now shown that mouth cancer is becoming more common in younger people and women. More than 7000 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer each year, that’s 18 people every day! and an increase of 30% over the last decade. Sadly, more than 1,800 people in the UK lose their life to mouth cancer every year and many of these could be prevented if the cancer was caught early enough. But the good news is Mouth cancer is beatable.
To celebrate our company rebrand Choose OH are hosting a Charity Ball with the aim of raising awareness and understanding of the early warning signs and symptoms of mouth cancer and raise much needed funds for the mouth cancer action group at the Oral Health Foundation, who work nationally to improve knowledge of the disease and ultimately help to save thousands of lives across the UK. All net proceeds from the event will go straight to Mouth Cancer action group at the Oral Health Foundation. http://www.mouthcancer.org/
This is a cause very close to the hearts of the team at Choose OH, and for those of you who aren’t aware I lost my mother Brenda to the disease in 2005 when she was 58 years young. If this evening can contribute to help one person avoid the effects of, or seek treatment early enough to recover from this horrible disease then, for me, the evening will have been a roaring success.
Can you help!
As part of the event we are holding an auction, co-ordinated on the night by David Bowman from Hopes, Wigton and a raffle. We would be delighted if you could support us by providing an auction or raffle prize. Some auction ideas to help your creative juices are; an experience such as a spa break, golf lesson or similar or a treat that people would like to bid for such as signed sports memorabilia, company specific products, etc.
Every donation is hugely appreciated – by us and the people your gift will ultimately benefit. If you are able to help with an auction item or raffle prize please do let us know and we will contact you to talk about the detail. Any help you provide with this will receive maximum recognition throughout the evening and after the event.
We are expecting over 200 attendees including some of Cumbria’s most high profile businesses. Our ball will be an excellent opportunity to entertain your clients, or just enjoy an evening out with friends while raising money for a worthy cause.
We have three sponsorship table packages to choose from:
