GETTING THE BEST OUT OF NEC4 - PRACTICAL INSIGHT INTO IT’S BENEFITS & PITFALLS

HKA present this free breakfast briefing for employers, local authorities, main contractors and subcontractors involved with construction and infrastructure projects. What we will cover:

In this interactive set of presentations, HKA will be joined by the Chair of the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG). The ICG is part of the Institution of Civil Engineers guiding the Project 13 initiative. Project 13 is an industry-led committee drawing together lessons learned from past projects to improve the delivery of construction projects and supports the adoption of the NEC4 Form of Contract.

Lessons learned from Project 13 and insight into the practical application of the NEC4 Form of Contract by working in a collaborative manner will be presented through:

  • An overview of the key lessons being learned by Project 13 that can be readily applied by all parties engaged in project delivery
  • A case study demonstrating the current application of NEC4
  • Identification and explanation of important changes and potential pitfalls in NEC4

Themes:

  • The evolution and benefits of NEC
  • The shift to more integrated and collaborative delivery models
  • Lessons learned from applying NEC4 to a live complex project
  • Engagement of all parties to set up the contract
  • Managing expectations of all parties
  • The management of risk in a multi-party context
