Can you help a local substance use charity develop a service for local employers?
With Covid-19 leading to increased remote working and anxiety, there is a real risk that alcohol and substance misuse will increase as staff feel more isolated, lonely and worried about their finances and job security.
Can you help us develop our service by completing a short survey?
The following has been shared by Leigh Williams, of CADAS, a BECBC member:
Drug and alcohol misuse by staff has a significant impact on business. For example:
- 60% of employers said that they had experienced problems due to staff drinking alcohol.*
- Up to one third of serious accidents at work are drink related.**
- One in four employees turn to alcohol to cope with work pressure according to a recent survey of over 2,000 UK workers.
- Harmful substance usage, substance related A&E admissions and alcohol related crime in Cumbria are higher than the national average.***
The Story So Far
CADAS already supports over 300 employed people per annum struggling with substance use dependency, having developed policy consultation and training sessions for managers and awareness raising sessions for apprentices.
We provide occupational health support for local businesses (including BAE) to reduce staff absences and staff turnover, increase productivity and reduce the risk of health and safety incidents.
So what’s next?
We want to increase our understanding of the needs of local businesses, and the opportunity to support companies across Cumbria by providing one-to-one and group support as well as workshops and training for staff on a more strategic and bigger scale.
To that end, I would be extremely grateful if you could complete a short online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6HXW97B
If you’d prefer to provide feedback by phone, please text me on 07714 766 658 or connect with me on LinkedIn.
Deadline for initial responses is 31st January 2021.
Click here to view an email campaign we sent out before Christmas which has information about the services we would like to offer – please have a quick look at the support packages that we are hoping to offer as that is what we would like to capture in terms of your questionnaire feedback.
I’m sure you can imagine how vulnerable charities are at the moment, with one in ten likely to have folded within the next 12 months. By completing the survey, you’ll be helping CADAS to develop an earned income stream that supports the local workforce but also helps us sustain a free service for our communities which will be invaluable over the next few years as we support more vulnerable people than ever.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
