Thank you to everyone who made the BECBC October Member Meeting such a success in so many different ways on Wed 3 October 2018:
Thanks to our speakers – from the laughter (and opportunities) of Yoshi and Yohei of Marubeni to the challenges of Paul Foster, Rt Hon Hazel Blears and Rich Deakin – plus “that memo” and the thought provoker from Tim Farron MP. Add to that ADAPT’s update (and vertiginous virtual reality) and the ideas from Whinlatter and it was a varied and fascinating meeting.
Thanks to all 70 exhibitors in the BSG Showcase – for making the most of the biggest BECBC shop window yet (over 326 attendees for this meeting - a new BECBC attendance record!), for networking, posting on social media and generally creating an atmosphere that was all about developments, challenges and opportunities in West Cumbria and beyond.
Thanks to everyone behind the scenes – the RovTech apprentices and Martha from Baines Wilson who were “on the door” and welcoming all those people, the Energus team and catering squad for coping with the invasion and, of course, Hazel and her support team for some frantic paddling while appearing as if all was fine on the surface.
Thanks to everyone who came along, whether for the first time, as a guest or as a regular at BECBC – it’s a busy time for everyone in business but collaboration and co-operation is going to be even more important in the coming months and years and it’s great to see that it is valued to this extent in Cumbria and the NW of England. Also hope to keep in touch with the students and tutors from Lakes College who came to make connections.
Look out for news of draw winners from the various business card draws and competitions that were going on and, if you missed it, put the future meeting dates into your diary now and have a look at the presentations online.
Congratulations to some of the prize draw winners from the BSG Showcase:
- Anna Crowe of Capita won the Prima Uno champagne
- Mark Watters of Shareplant won the free month’s membership with The Vicky
- Faith Newell of 1692 Wasdale won the Hanna Somatic Education Session with de Fenzi Movement (see their News article online)
