Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) held its AGM at Energus at Lillyhall on Wednesday 3 April 2019 and the morning’s programme included the start of the 15th year anniversary celebrations for the organisation (sponsored by Doosan Babock Ltd, Orano, Sellafield Ltd and Wood).
The AGM was attended by over 150 people representing a broad cross section of the organisation’s membership of over 300 companies and organisations.
The guest speakers were Dr Tim Stone (Chairman of the Nuclear Industry Association) and Henri Murison (Director of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership), as well as Adrienne Easterbrook of Energus, who were celebrating their 10th anniversary that day too and sponsored a networking lunch.
The AGM included a review of the past year from BECBC Chairman, Ivan Baldwin, which also highlighted the development of the BECBC over the last 15 years, a summary of the organisation’s financial position by current BECBC Treasurer, Alison Johnston of Dodd & Co Accountants and the election of four Board Directors. Charlotte Horner also reported on the first year of the BECBC Shadow Board, which she chairs, and announced that applications are now sought for young people to join them, as Penelope Crookshank has now stepped down from her role in that group.
The final element of the AGM was the election of four Board Directors. Tom Scaife of Baines Wilson LLP has undertaken legal duties for the BECBC Management Team since February 2014, and was appointed as a Director by the Board prior to the AGM. This appointment was approved by a vote from members.
The directors retiring by rotation were Gary McKeating and John Berry of Sellafield Ltd and David Henderson of Shepley Engineers. All three have given long and valuable service to BECBC and our members over their terms as Directors, all on a voluntary basis.
After a carefully monitored count of members’ votes, Tom Scaife confirmed the following results:
- Comms and Marketing Director: Charlotte Horner
- Membership Engagement Director: Dianne Richardson
- General Director: Peter Fleming
Ivan then thanked all those who had stood for election for their willingness to be part of the leadership of BECBC.
The next BECBC members meeting will be held at Energus from 9.00am on Wednesday 1 May 2019. Further information on membership of BECBC and details of member companies, specialist sector groups and other activities can be found online or contact Hazel Duhy, BECBC Admin Manager.
