Influence and Opportunities

As some readers know, I missed the February BECBC Member Meeting as I was in London meeting a Korean government delegation with the MP for Copeland, Trudy Harrison.
With the current NuGen and Moorside new build situation and the stated position of KEPCO, this was a tremendous opportunity to meet key people, find out more about their concerns, interests and priorities and help them to see the vast nuclear energy and construction expertise and excellence in our area.  What surprised me, but reinforced the value of the meeting, was the delegation’s interest in our decommissioning experience and skills too.
You can read more about our discussions here and please let me know if you’ve specific questions about my meeting at the Ambassador’s residence.

  • AGM for BECBC with added VIPs
This year’s BECBC AGM and celebratory dinner are promising to be the proverbial “hot tickets” – to attend and to sponsor – as the guest list of Tier 1 leaders, government ministers and energy industry influencers takes shape.
  • Awards refreshed and entries open
There were several key announcements at the February BECBC members’ meeting about this year’s BECBC Business Awards. Three new categories, an entry workshop and a tremendous early response to sponsorship were part of the news.
  • Collaboration in action
A recent example of Board-level collaboration has some lessons for other situations too.
  • Insights into working in China
BECBC is working with the Confucius Institute at Lancaster University on a half-day workshop (22 March) that offers members an insight into the environmental policies, business opportunities and cross-cultural implications of working in China or with Chinese clients.
