Connections, co-operation and collaboration

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Cluster of the Nuclear Industry in Cantabria (CINC) and BECBC and the creation of a reciprocal membership, Maria E Vega, President of CINC and Vice-President Business Development at ENSA, spoke at the BECBC Celebratory AGM Dinner and at the AGM.

“CINC’s main objective is to seek co-operation among the different agencies in the Cantabrian nuclear sector: university, manufacturers, technology centres and service providers.”

“We know that the UK, like Spain, is facing numerous challenges in its nuclear industry at home and we also recognise the wealth of business opportunities worldwide. I think export development is an area where our two Clusters can learn from each other and work together. Thanks to the new agreement with BECBC, our ambition is to make this happen.”

Deadline, shortlist and sponsorship opportunities
The BECBC Business Awards 2018 are a great opportunity for your business to raise its profile among our 320 or so members and more broadly too. If you’ve not entered yet, you have a couple more weeks than you expected (deadline extended to 15 June) and if you’re still considering sponsorship, the opportunities are disappearing fast.
From start-up challenges to collaboration
Sarah Purdham, MD of Prima Uno Limited, based at Cleator Moor, was elected to the Board of BECBC at the AGM in April.  She’s keen to share her experience of growing a successful business with other members, as well as contributing to the growth of the Cumbrian economy.
Shadow Board out in the light
The Business Cluster has appointed a Shadow Board of eight young business people from a range of member companies.
Members were introduced to this group at the AGM and the Shadow Board is already developing its governance and agreeing on priorities for the coming months.
Membership benefits and BECBC buzz...
BECBC launched its new video (courtesy of Adam and Keith Pearson at Adamedia) at the AGM and Dinner and now the challenge is for members to share it far and wide – and closer to home too.
