First Lego League - workshop in best practice

Irene McMillan of REACT Engineering (a BECBC member) has sent the following note for BECBC members, following their well received presentation on the First Lego League given at the recent BECBC AGM and Member Meeting on 5 April 2017:

‘’We are offering a ‘Best Practice’ workshop session on the ins and outs of competing in First Lego League. We are endeavouring to get all schools up to a common level and we would like to share what we know makes a successful team.

We want more teams to compete, therefore need more ambassadors to support schools and of course any companies who would like to make a donation to support a team.

In  preparation for the 2017/2018 competition, we would like to ask all interested parties to register to attend the session.  The event will take place on Tuesday 9th May 2017, 5.30pm - 7pm at West Lakes Academy, Egremont. We are inviting STEM Ambassadors, school staff and interested parties to the event, so this will be an ideal opportunity to network and find out more about the initiative. STEM Cumbria who lead the initiative will also be there to answer any questions you may have or to sign up your company up to support the 2017/18 competition.

The 2017/18 competition is HYDRO DYNAMICS - the students will learn all about water – how we find, transport, use, or dispose of it. There is very little information on the competition at the moment …. Full details will be released during the summer term.
You can find out more about this year’s competition on the link below:-

or there is little taster real on Hydro Dynamics at:-

If you would like to come along to the event, please email me direct on ‘’ stating how many people / name of school attending. And of course if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 01946 813778 ext 101."
