New Japanese connections for BECBC members

A brief networking lunch at Hunday Manor Hotel on Friday 3 March proved to be an exciting international networking opportunity.  The lunch, organised by Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster with support from CoNE (Centre for Nuclear Excellence) and the Department for International Trade,  brought together invited Cumbrian guests and almost 20 members of a Japanese nuclear delegation that had been in the country for several days.

The Japanese delegation had been touring various nuclear-related sites during the week and, just before they had to leave for London, the brief lunch meeting was hosted by BECBC as a farewell and a final chance for face-to-face networking.

“We wanted to leave the delegation with a really positive view of the supply chain expertise and of the people here in Cumbria,” said BECBC Chairman, Ivan Baldwin. “Only a few BECBC member companies could be included, but I think we achieved what we wanted in showing a cross section of businesses with a range of services and products that may be of interest to the Japanese companies in the months to come.  Certainly, plenty of new contacts were established and we’ll be working with member companies to build on those for the future.”
