Euratom Exit Bulletin

The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 has now received Royal Assent and the Withdrawal Agreement has now been signed and ratified by both the UK and EU. This means that the UK will formally leave the EU and Euratom at 11.00pm on 31 January 2020.

Once the UK has left the EU and Euratom, the UK will enter a transition period lasting until 31 December 2020. Throughout this period, existing Euratom laws and regulations will continue to apply in the UK as currently.

The Government is now preparing to negotiate an agreement on its future relationship with the EU. As set out in the UK-EU Political Declaration, this will include the agreement of a wide-ranging Nuclear Cooperation Agreement with Euratom. The UK will also begin negotiating trade agreements with non-EU countries.
