Exyte Hargreaves employees take part in 2019 Giving Tree present push
Employees of Exyte Hargreaves (a BECBC member) have shown their generosity by participating in the 2019 Giving Tree campaign, organised by the charity, KidsOut. Started in 2014 with just 63 companies taking part, the Giving Tree has grown to over 750 participating in 2018, with hopefully even more this year.
KidsOut’s Giving Tree initiative invites firms to ‘Ditch Secret Santa’ and buy toys for children in local refuge homes instead. Many of the recipients are children who have escaped domestic violence, being forced to flee their homes quickly and leave their possessions behind. Without Giving Tree, these children may not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas.
Businesses, schools, and organisations can take part by turning their Christmas tree into a special KidsOut “Giving Tree”. In the lead up to Christmas, decorative tags with a child’s name*, age, and suggested gift are placed on the tree, with participants being invited to take a tag and buy the present for £5-£10. KidsOut will arrange the collection of the gifts to distribute to children in local refuges.
