Nuclear Engagement Group

This Sector Group (previously known as the BECBC Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste (inlcuding Storage) Sector Group) is active across all aspects of nuclear decommissioning, waste and storage developments and has a vision to improve the commercial positions, enhance business opportunities and build decommissioning and waste management capabilities in companies in West Cumbria.  The Group is proactively building links with parallel projects beyond Cumbria’s borders. Recent Group meetings have included a video link to a Dounreay Meet the Buyer event and coordinated advocacy via the NDA in government.

Members, over 50 of them, are encouraged to share relevant information and build partnerships and alliances within the Group so that members can also raise the profile of Cumbrian expertise and suppliers elsewhere in the UK and overseas.

Liz Bowe is the main contact for details of forthcoming meetings (approximately alternate months), venues and agendas.

"The prime objective of the Group is to create opportunities by collaborating and sharing market intelligence on future work streams, and by creating a forum to discuss alliances and co-operation in delivery.  It’s a vibrant group that’s active in a rapidly developing and very imporant sector."
