Socio Economic

The success and prosperity of the decommissioning and energy supply chains have the potential to make a huge positive impact on the communities of West Cumbria.  The Socio Economic Sector Group brings together member companies, NGOs and other organisations to discuss how best to engage, educate and inform those communities and to implement plans to make a positive difference, building productive bridges and networks among them.

The Group is currently focusing on how best to support education across the area, identifying opportunities for BECBC member companies of all sizes and scopes to participate in the development of local young talent, developing awareness and aspirations through encounters with enterprise.

"The group continues to take the lead on identifying and implementing socio-economic best practice. It’s fantastic to see businesses, many of whom are in direct competition with each other, come together to identify local needs and facilitate the mapping out of a solution. That is what community is about."
