Destination Milky Way - St Benedicts School - Working with Year 7 students

25 students will investigate the most sustainable options for colonising a new planet supported by mentors from local businesses through the day. The teams final proposals will be presented to a panel of judges.

The aim of the event is to inspire students in science and engineering and facilitate engagement of school children with business people in a contextualised learning environment.

This event needs c6 volunteers able to mentor students as they review sustainable options for water and waste, food, power and building construction (9am-3pm). We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are prepared to coach during this period and to engage with students about their day job and career path.

We also need c4 members of the judging panel (ideally senior staff) who will take information from those working with the groups during the day and will receive a presentation to provide feedback and celebrate the successes (1.30-3.25pm)
