Mayfield School - Big Read Day
Approximately 6 volunteers sought to take part in the school's Big Read event. To describe, in basic terms, how they use literacy in their jobs. Should include some practical elements for students to take part in, to demonstrate the importance of reading on the job, eg Police officers writing up incident reports, a nurse reading medicine dosages, a chef reading recipes.
9.30am - Introduction to Reading (Head Teacher)
10.00am - Round Robin - Representatives will be asked to go into each classroom to give a talk/small activity of how reading helps them in the work place. Why is it important? (15-20 minutes with each class).
Lunch break: 12.00pm - 1.00pm. Guests can have their lunch in the conference room.
The Round Robin will continue until 2.00pm, in which we will be having an assembly at 2.15pm to conclude our reading day experience in the work placement.
