Rutherford Appleton Laboratory

Supplier Opportunity!

We are pleased to invite you to exhibit at the Nu-Tech Science & Technology Solutions Exhibitions, taking place at two of the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) world-leading research and innovation campuses:

· STFC Daresbury Laboratory, Liverpool City Region – Weds, 25th June 2025 (in conjunction with UK Vacuum Symposium)

· STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) (supported by Diamond Light Source), Harwell – Weds, 10th September 2025

These exclusive in-house events organised independently by Nu-Tech Exhibitions + Events provide a unique opportunity for suppliers to showcase their products and services directly to scientists, engineers, technologists, and buyers, at two key STFC science campuses and the international facilities STFC funds (including CERN).

The Daresbury event will also be open to delegates from this year’s UK Vacuum Symposium, while the Harwell event will be open to fellow scientists and engineers working for the Diamond Light Source which is co-located on the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory site.

The event at RAL is being supported by the UK Industrial Liaison Office, which connects UK industry with the global Big Science marketplace, supplying major research projects like CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, the Square Kilometre Array Observatory, and the European Spallation Source. Big Science facilities invest billions in procurement, creating unique opportunities for UK businesses to supply everything from everyday goods and services to ground-breaking technologies. STFC manages the UK’s subscription to eight major international Big Science facilities.

Why Exhibit?

These events offer a highly cost-effective and time-efficient way to connect with decision-makers and end-users actively seeking new technologies and solutions.

· Hosted inside STFC’s research hubs, where new technologies are in demand

· Direct access to key end-users, procurement teams, and technical specialists

· Meet with STFC’s UK Industrial Liaison Office to explore procurement and collaboration opportunities both at home and overseas

· Engage with representatives from Diamond Light Source and other major international research programmes

Focus Areas by Location

STFC Daresbury Laboratory (25th June 2025)

Daresbury Laboratory, part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), is renowned for its world leading scientific research in fields such as bio-medicine, physics, chemistry, materials, accelerator technology, engineering and computational science. STFC Daresbury Laboratory is located within the Sci-Tech Daresbury National Science & Innovation Campus in the Liverpool City Region.

A hub for cutting-edge science and technology, this event will be of interest to suppliers providing products associated with:

· Particle accelerators and associated RF technologies

· High-performance computing & AI-driven data analytics

· Big Data and scientific computing infrastructures

· Advanced materials, including composites, coatings & novel alloys

· Robotics & automation for scientific and industrial applications

· Vacuum, cryogenic & ultra-high vacuum (UHV) solutions

STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (10th September 2025)

The Rutherford Appleton Laboratory hosts world-class research facilities, advises the government on their development, and manages international projects. Key STFC facilities include the Central Laser Facility and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, the latter of which is expanding with a £90 million programme to boost its capacity. Further investment of £1.8 billion has also been earmarked to modernise STFC’s infrastructure over the next 15 years offering additional opportunities for suppliers.

The Diamond Light Source, which also shares the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory site, is the UK’s largest scientific facility funded primarily by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through STFC and the Welcome Trust.

While Diamond operates independently conducting research into physics, chemistry, and materials science, it often collaborates with STFC in its work. Diamond is also undergoing a £519 million upgrade (Diamond-II) to enhance its capabilities.

In addition to meeting end-users from STFC and the Diamond Light Source, exhibitors to this event will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from several major international research programmes providing even greater reach and business opportunities.

Key supply chain areas of interest to this site will include:

· Space, astrophysics & remote sensing technologies

· Lasers, optics, photonics & high-power laser systems

· High-precision engineering, metrology & additive manufacturing

· Superconducting materials, cryogenics & vacuum systems

· Power management, grid integration & sustainable energy solutions
