Centre for Leadership Performance (CfLP)

Introduction

The Centre for Leadership Performance is an initiative that aims to develop and strengthen leadership capability across the private, public and civic sectors in Cumbria.

We work on retaining and developing leaders who are already in place, but also on developing the potential of others, including the emerging young talent we have in the region.

Capabilities

Who we are
The Centre for Leadership Performance is Cumbrias champion for business leadership excellence - delivering the support that the countys public and private sector companies and organisations need to compete effectively in regional, UK and worldwide markets.

Widely recognised for its highly acclaimed masterclasses and collaborative programmes with business, the Centre is also building a reputation for delivering practical and pragmatic support for managers and leaders who recognise the need to improve their skills and knowledge, and aspire to be best.

We aim to provide that support through high quality coaching, action learning, expert workshops, mentoring, peer based learning and real time feedback delivered right here is Cumbria with our specialist partners and tailored to meet the specific needs of client companies or business sectors.

With its primary funding provided by Nuclear Management Partners as part of NMPs committment to support businesses and communities, the Centre has an intimate appreciation of the issues facing the nuclear sector.  But it also engages with companies and organisations beyond nuclear to foster the exchange of ideas and experience across sectors.

Our Mission
“Developing Cumbria's leaders for today and tomorrow”.

We will achieve this mission by:

Igniting aspiration and inspiring talent in individuals, teams and organisations across Cumbria through masterclasses and flagship events sponsored by partners who gain the full benefit from their involvement in these agenda-setting initiatives.

Stimulating demand and meeting the leadership and management development needs by enabling easy access to world-wide providers.  That extends to creating events specifically for a client or organisation, and running them in their workplace to maximise the impact and minimise disruption to normal working.

Encouraging networking and sharing of best practice between Cumbria firms and organisations through programmes such as Leader to Leader.

Nurturing the next generation of Cumbria's leaders through engagement with business and demonstrating to young people of all ages how exciting and rewarding careers in Cumbrian businesses can be - giving them a new vision of their future.

Services

The Centre for Leadership Performance offers three streams of activity: Masterclasses, Short Courses & Workshops, and Customised Solutions & New Designs.

Leadership Masterclasses*
Every quarter a leadership masterclass launches a new leadership theme. The masterclasses feature distinguished guest speakers, such as leading Olympic Cycling Coach - Dan Hunt, and Dragon’s Den star - Duncan Bannatyne, providing us with the opportunity to hear and learn from some of businesses leading figures!
Video clips of previous speakers can be seen on our website: www.cforlp.org.uk

Short Courses & Workshops*
Following on from the masterclass, and keeping with the theme, a series of short courses, workshops and seminars
follow throughout each quarter.
This activity is designed by our core group of providers and delivered collaboratively across Cumbria.

Customised Solutions & New Designs
Utilising the best resources and knowledge from our collaboration of suppliers, we create bespoke CfLP leadership products and learning packages, sourcing new and innovative solutions, to respond wholly to the leadership needs of the region and the employer.
New CfLP products complement other already available leadership offerings and are aimed at the full range of leaders and managers within the private, public and third sectors; from first line supervision to senior executives.

* Places on workshops and masterclasses are all generally either fully or partly funded as part of our commitment to support and develop Cumbrian businesses and talent.
