39 wins places on Scottish council consultancy framework
Scottish councils have picked 39 firms for a £160m national engineering and technical consultancy framework covering everything from highways and flood prevention to coastal engineering and project management.
The second-generation deal from Scotland Excel is expected to generate around £40m a year over the next four years.
Major multi-discipline consultants dominated the awards, with WSP UK and Tetra Tech Consulting securing places across all nine specialist lots.
Other big winners included AECOM, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald, Arcadis and AtkinsRéalis.
Scotland Excel said the latest generation of the framework removes minimum service thresholds that previously restricted SME participation.
Seventeen of the appointed suppliers are SMEs or micro businesses.
The procurement body also introduced more flexible liability arrangements, allowing councils to manage risk at individual work-order level rather than through a single framework-wide cap.
Councillor John Shaw, convener at Scotland Excel, said the changes would give councils greater flexibility while opening the framework to more specialist suppliers.
