Expressions of interest welcome for new development

In 2023, West House worked in partnership with Cumberland Council on a successful Levelling Up Fund bid for the wider Ramsey Brow project in Workington. This project included the development of the current walled garden site in Hall Park.

Already home to West House’s social enterprise, West House Pottery, the site aims to create a central home for our other social enterprises including Grow West and our cafes.

Planning permission has now been granted (FUL/2024/0006) for the development of this site which will include the following:

  • The refurbishment of the existing two buildings including our own pottery building
  • A horticultural greenhouse building
  • A cafe, commercial kitchen and retail building
  • Play area
  • Events space
  • Outdoor learning area

You can find the full planning permission documents and details on the council’s planning portal here.

We are now looking for local construction companies to work alongside our appointed architects to take our plans through to completion with an end date of March 2025.

If you are a local construction company with the ability to deliver this project by the required deadline and would like to work on an exciting new community project for Workington then we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your expression of interest by 5pm on Friday 5th April in writing to holly.woodhead@westhouse.org.uk.
