Forth Engineering to unveil £250,000 facility in Maryport

An engineering firm is set to unveil a new precision engineering machine shop.

Forth will unveil the facility at its headquarters in Maryport on Thursday, July 10, following a £250,000 investment.

The purpose-built shop is part of the company’s expansion plans and will create five new jobs.

"It’s a significant investment that boosts production capacity, extends our capabilities and cements Forth as a one-stop, solutions-focused engineering partner for the nuclear, gas, oil and utilities sectors.

"We’re now focused on building on HallPack’s reputation for quality and value."

The new facility follows Forth’s acquisition of Workington-based HallPack and a recent recruitment drive after the closure of Chapel Bank Engineering.

Forth completed a full buyout of HallPack’s share capital and assets in June.

To mark the opening, a VIP from the area will officially launch the machine shop on July 10 at the Maryport site.

The company is hosting an open day from 10am to 4pm.

The event will include a barbecue, technology demonstrations, and a visit from Sellafield’s Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) team.

Community sports clubs, organisations and charities who have benefited from Forth’s support will also drop in to show their support and meet the team.

The new workshop is located on the site of Forth’s original test pond, a three-metre square tank that played a key role in the company’s early development.

Precision engineering involves the design, manufacture, and maintenance of components built to extremely tight tolerances, supporting sectors such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and telecommunications.

Mark Telford, managing director at Forth, said: "Our investment in people, products and services is an ongoing journey.

"We’re not afraid to take risks or tackle challenges head-on.

"Turning a redundant space into a fully functioning machine shop in just a few weeks has tested us, but by 10 July we’ll be ready for launch—ready to collaborate with our supply chain, deliver real value to our clients, and take the next step on Forth’s exciting growth journey."

Forth Engineering (Cumbria) Ltd is an award-winning advanced technology solutions provider with locations in Maryport, Cleator Moor, and Barrow.

The open day is free to attend, with an open invitation extended to businesses, community members, and the general public.
