Inspirational Cumbrian businesswomen shortlisted for prestigious awards

Nine businesswomen are flying the flag for Cumbria as finalists in prestigious UK awards.

The Enterprise Vision Awards are the UK’s largest awards dedicated solely to celebrating female entrepreneurship.

The Cumbrian businesswomen shortlisted are among 144 finalists selected from over 1,450 nominations and entries nationwide.

Now in its 14th year, the EVAS continues to champion the changemakers, role models, and community leaders driving meaningful impact in business and beyond.

In Ambleside, Natalie Barker, of M&M Business Support, has carved out a reputation for exceptional customer service, helping clients streamline and grow with expert virtual assistant services.

In Arnside, Rebecca Smith of Box Box Solutions is simplifying business growth through her unique framework for success, designed to reduce overwhelm and increase clarity.

Carlisle-based celebrant Kerrie Low, of The Birds and The Bees, creates bespoke, heartfelt ceremonies that help families and couples celebrate life’s most meaningful moments with individuality and flair.

From Kendal, three women are making waves: Diane Hannah of The Herdy Company continues to grow a nationally loved Lake District brand rooted in community and kindness; Gemma Dawe of Lake District Relocation is helping people find their dream homes in the Lakes; and Mel Walmsley of Lakes Sandwiches is combining family values with quality, locally made food.

In Maryport, Gemma Hornsby-Lofthouse leads Essence Wellness, a nurse-led centre offering floatation and red-light therapy while supporting holistic health practitioners. In Whitehaven, Georgina Goulding, a serial entrepreneur, has launched multiple ventures including Bakes by Gina and Beach Road Bakehouse, while Lindsay Gray of Natterjack Marketing is helping businesses thrive through strategic, creative communications.

Finalists will now take part in the next phase, including interviews with an independent judging panel, a public vote, and participation in the vibrant #EVAS2025 social media campaign.

As part of this year’s celebrations, all finalists can join an exclusive EVAS Reception at the House of Commons, where they will have the opportunity to connect with influential business leaders, previous winners, and policymakers.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Friday September 26 at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, where one finalist will also receive the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award.
