Local employer Mitie partners with Whitehaven Alive

Major local employer Mitie has partnered with one of Cumbria’s newest festivals, Whitehaven Alive, a food, music and lifestyle festival taking place across Whitehaven Harbour this September.

Headline artists across a wide range of genres will grace the Mitie Main Stage this year, as Mitie showcases festival fans their firm and their community of people and resources.

Strategic Account Director Lesley Sewell explained Mitie is delighted to be partnering with the festival, As an ongoing demonstration of our commitment to the local area and communities in which our teams live and work. We’re delighted to support Whitehaven Alive which will bring together the community in a celebration of our local talent and will also promote the best of our independent local businesses and traders.

“We’re looking forward to supporting the positive impact this festival will have on Whitehaven and the surrounding areas by bringing several high-profile acts to perform on our Mitie Main Stage, as well as providing a major platform for local independent artists. It’s going to be a great weekend.”

Mitie is the UK’s leading facilities management company employing almost 1,000 local people. The firm has a key regional presence in West Cumbria where it holds major contracts for Security and Facilities Management.

More than 6,000 people attended Whitehaven Alive in 2022 with Scouting For Girls, Chris Moyles and Porsche all playing a part in the first year’s programme.

Oliver Hodgson, Executive Director of festival promoters Alive Entertainment Group said: “This partnership is truly fantastic, allowing both parties to collaborate and showcase the best of Cumbria across the exciting Whitehaven Alive weekend this September.

“Securing the backing of Mitie, allows the festival to grow and the opportunities presented for small independent local businesses. Mitie has a great depth of knowledge in large projects, and they bring a plethora of expertise and resource to the Whitehaven Alive team and mission.

“We can’t thank the community and supply chain enough for backing the first event last year and getting right behind our vision, we’re looking forward to building on that this year.

“The Mitie Main Stage – now that has a ring to it, doesn’t it? Stay tuned for superb developments on the artist and programme front.”
