New CEO for UKAEA
Dennis Whyte has been appointed UKAEA's next Group Chief Executive, stepping into the role this autumn as STEP Fusion moves from concept design into delivery. He co-founded Commonwealth Fusion Systems in 2018 as a spinout from MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center at MIT, and CFS has since raised $4 billion in private capital to build its SPARC demonstration reactor and planned ARC commercial plant.
He arrives at UKAEA with STEP's construction, magnets, and systems partners already appointed, and with UK Fusion Energy's strategy setting out plans to widen investor involvement against a £1.3 billion budget through 2030.
