The appointments bring extensive experience spanning complex project delivery, public and private finance, energy sector regulation, and human resources. The non‑executive directors will support the Chair, Simon Bowen, and the incoming Chief Executive, Simon Roddy, providing independent oversight and constructive challenge as GBE-N delivers the first Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in Europe at Wylfa in North Wales and continues to advise government on the UK nuclear programme.
The new non-executive directors are:
David Goldstone CBE
Richard Morse
Gareth Price
Tracy Sheedy
Dr Rebecca Weston
Simon Bowen, Chair of GBE-N, said:
“Delivering the UK’s New Nuclear programme will require us to continue to move with focus and pace. To date this has been enabled by an incredibly talented and committed group of Board Directors. As we transition to a permanent Board I would like to thank Mark Russell, Susan Jee, Tim Stone, Gareth Price and Hugo Robson for their immense contribution. Particular thanks to Susan, Mark and Tim who have elected to step down for a well earned rest. Gareth and Hugo will join me in continuing on the Board which provides expertise and continuity as the new Board members get up to speed.
“I am excited to announce the new appointments to our Board, who bring with them a wealth of experience in delivering major, complex, and nationally critical infrastructure projects. I look forward to working with our new Board as we continue delivering the SMR programme and paving the way to realising the full potential of the UK’s nuclear ambitions.”
Minister for Nuclear, Lord Vallance said:
“These new board members will bring a wealth of expertise as Great British Energy – Nuclear prepares to deliver the UK’s first small modular reactors in North Wales.
“I look forward to working with the board as we enter a new golden age of nuclear, which will create thousands of jobs and boost our energy security.”
