Nuclear week in Parliament

In late January, Jane Gaston, CEO of Net Zero North West joined partners from Northern Nuclear Alliance and Birchwood Park to a celebratory event, marking 80 years of Nuclear Industry in Warrington during Nuclear Week in Parliament.

Jane attended alongside Charlotte Nichols MP for Warrington, Euan Hutton, CEO of Sellafield, Rachel O’Donnell, Chair of the Northern Nuclear Alliance and Adrian Bull, President of the Nuclear Institute.

Jane Gaston spoke about the vital role that nuclear power plays for North West manufacturers. As a clean, safe and low-carbon power source, it remains an obvious option as a replacement to natural gas for baseload power, unlocking electrification as a realistic option for industrial decarbonisation across the region.  

Jane also spoke about the cross-sector working on skills and workforces to which the nuclear industry in the North West has been central. Information learned and shared through this collaboration continues to deliver sustainable clean growth in the region, for the nuclear sector and beyond.
