Prima Uno Secures Place on Sellafield’s PPP Project Controls Preferred Partner List

Prima Uno has secured a place on the Project Controls Preferred Partner List for Sellafield Ltd’s Programme and Project Partners (PPP) framework, marking a significant milestone for the Cumbrian-based, female‑owned project controls consultancy.

The appointment is the first time Prima Uno has been formally selected to work directly within the PPP framework, which oversees a £7bn, 20‑year programme designed to transform major project delivery at the Sellafield site. Mobilised in 2019 with KBR as the integration partner, PPP brings together Sellafield Ltd, three delivery partners and an extensive supply chain to safely progress some of the UK’s most critical nuclear infrastructure projects.

Prima Uno have successfully won the first mini-competition awarded February 2026 for the Sellafield PPP Preferred Partners. This is a significant piece of work where seven Prima Uno people will support the Sellafield projects.

Managing Director Sarah Purdham said the announcement represents an important step in the company’s evolution - “To secure a place on the Project Controls Preferred Partner List for PPP is incredibly exciting for us,” Sarah said.

“This is the first time Prima Uno has been formally appointed to work on the PPP framework, we have been supporting Sellafield KBR under a PCCS contract where four of Prima Uno’s people work as a fully integrated team with Sellafield and KBR’s project teams. After years of supporting Tier Twos such as Atkins, Amentum, Nuvia, Orano on decommissioning contracts such as DDP, being recognised at this level feels like a natural next step and a rewarding one.”

As a Preferred Partner, Prima Uno will provide project controls, risk management and project management expertise under NEC4 contracts, working collaboratively with PPP stakeholders across multiple major projects. The appointment reflects the consultancy’s established reputation for technical proficiency, reliability and sector experience.

The announcement comes during a period of expansion for Prima Uno. Already in 2026, the company has:

  • Opened a new headquarters
  • Launched “Project: Anything’s Possible”, a community interest company dedicated to creating project controls career pathways for individuals furthest from employment
  • Introduced new leadership roles to support delivery capacity and future company growth
  • Entered into new sectors.

Sarah said these developments represent more than simple business expansion - “2026 is a year of ambition for Prima Uno,” she added.
“With new people, new spaces and new opportunities ahead of us, our appointment to PPP arrives at exactly the right moment. It strengthens our commitment to delivering excellence, supporting UK nuclear infrastructure, and creating opportunities for talent here in West Cumbria.”

Prima Uno said joining the PPP Project Controls Preferred Partner List reinforces the company’s longstanding commitment to high‑quality project delivery and the belief that an independent, female‑led SME from Cumbria can play a significant role in some of the UK's most complex and meaningful major projects.

“We’re proud of our roots, proud of our team, and proud to be part of PPP’s mission,” Sarah said.
“This appointment reflects who we are; committed, capable and passionate about delivering work that truly matters.”
