BECBC Monthly Member Meeting (3rd November)-Shadow Board event

Our November meeting will be a special one with our Shadow Board hosting the session.

The session will have an overall theme of ‘sustainability’ as well as following the Shadow Boards four themes: Better Place to Live and Work, Developing the Next Generation, Business Collaboration and Diversity and Inclusion.

This is a fantastic opportunity to introduce the young professionals in your organisations to BECBC.

Steve Ratcliffe – Director of Sustainable Development at Lake District National Park. Steve is Director of Sustainable Development for the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA), and was instrumental in the development of the Vision for the LDNP in 2006, and the establishment of the Lake District National Park Partnership (LDNPP). He chairs the English Lake District World Heritage Site Steering Group and has overseen the development of the Partnership Plan (the statutory Management Plan for the LDNP); a first for any National Park in the UK. He considers his acceptance of the WHS inscription for the English Lake District at the 41st World Heritage Committee in Krakow, to be one of his most humbling and proudest moments in his career. In addition to World Heritage, Steve’s responsibilities include planning, park management and strategy and policy development and delivery.

When away from work Steve enjoys relaxing with his family at his home in Witherslack, within the southern part of the National Park, and getting involved with his local rural parish community.

Steve will talk about the links between national park, business and economy.
