BECBC Monthly Member Meeting - 15th June 2022

With presentations from Sizewell C, the Key Delivery Partners from Project and Programme Partners, Indelible Data and our wonderful egg timers this is an event not to be missed!

With a decision by the Secretary of State on Sizewell C imminent Steve Carroll from the Sizewell Supply Chain Team will talk about the opportunities for the supply chain in the North to benefit from this development. Sizewell C signed a MoU with the North which commits them to:

  • Invest around £2.5bn over the lifetime of construction and support 13,000 job opportunities in the North of England.
  • Indicates a 15-year opportunity for suppliers from the North, based on a pipeline of EPR reactor development from Sizewell C to Moorside, allowing for long-term stability and growth.
  • Work alongside local colleges, research centres and educational institutions to ensure that world class talent developed in the North is encouraged to enter the nuclear and construction industry. It is estimated that the nuclear industry will need 30,000 new employees in the next decade.
  • Convene an inaugural annual Business Summit for the North, and open a ‘shop front’ facility in Cumbria to enable local businesses to access work, contracts and generate new opportunities across the UK.

Make sure your company doesn't miss out and find out more about the opportunities at this meeting.

Programme and Project Partners (PPP) recently announced the appointment of their Key Delivery Partners (KDPs) for their Multi-Project Procurements (MPPs). The companies appointed will present about how they're working together, the matching with SME's on Swimming with the Big Fish and how they'll engage with the supply chain for the other opportunities not matched under this scheme.

Tony from Indelible Data will update on the new Cybersecurity guidance for the Construction Industry recently released.

Our Panel Discussion is on Recruitment with Ewan McGregor of MacArthur Recruitment, Sharon Brooks of North Lakes Hotel and Andy Dodds of All Together Cumbria.

Egg timers:

  • Jacqui Currie from Cumbria Community Foundation
  • Arran Pamphilon from Tarn Wealth Management
  • Charlotte Trafford from Rullion.
