UKAEA at Lancashire Energy HQ

We are excited for Engineering and Science T Level educators to join us at Lancashire Energy HQ Blackpool & The Fylde College for a day to hear about the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) fusion energy programme and experience live demonstrations.

This day will include:

  • arrival and welcome – tea/coffee
  • intro to Fusion – The basics. Why we’re here, what we’re doing, what is UKAEA?
  • RAICo – Why UKAEA are in Cumbria, what is RAICo, and how robotics and AI feed into fusion and fission. Unitree or spot dog demonstration
  • CROSS – This is a project in Cumbria focussed on bringing robotics into a wider range of apprenticeships. Discussion on robotics apprenticeships, how fusion skills are applicable to fission, and why UKAEA are so keen to focus on these skills
  • Quest Fused – the skills UKAEA apprentices really need to focus on in the fusion industry and why
  • meet the apprentices – career panel
  • lunch and networking.


There will be time for Q&A throughout the event and during the networking.

Lunch will be provided for you by UKAEA, you will be asked for your dietary requirements closer to the time.
