INTERA is an SME with an international headcount of around 220 engineers and scientists specialising in subsurface site characterisation and risk management, process modelling and performance assessment/safety case for deep and near surface geological disposal facilities, retrievals and legacy site remediation. We have unique involvement in radioactive waste management programmes across the world. Our work includes process modelling, uncertainty analysis to support decision-making. in Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States. Our services include leading groundwater related capabilities, environmental assessments, site remediation and reclamation, environmental system modelling, total system performance assessment, and risk and decision analysis. The company is headquartered in the United States, and with offices commonly located in areas with a nuclear legacy or national nuclear decommissioning client, we are long established in Switzerland, France, Australia and now in the UK. INTERA has a key role as primary consultant for the performance assessments on the Hanford Manhattan Project legacy site remediation programme in the US, the world's largest remediation project. At Hanford we have provided services to the closure mission since 2008. This includes leading the analysis and modelling to produce deliverables ranging from major chapters and supporting calculations for key regulatory decision documents to complete documents (cover-to-cover), such as safety cases, baseline risk assessments, past leaks evaluations, and RCRA closure documents. We also provide support services in the area of quality assurance and environmental software and calculation documentation which are critical in underpinning retrievals and remediation decisions.
