With some members of the team having over 30 years’ experience in the UK nuclear industry, Orano is able to approach projects with a historically astute and relevant perspective on the challenges faced in the sector today. This is supported by recognised expertise and technically ability in a wide spectrum of technical services, such as decommissioning engineering, nuclear safety cases, shielding and dose assessment, human factors, nuclear fire safety and waste management and decommissioning.
Drawing from its global experience and resource pool, Orano has an-depth knowledge of clean-up planning and operations in all types of nuclear facilities and projects, a culture of problem solving using innovation that ensures that lessons learned from experience (LFE) are built back into approach and designs, supported by the use of specialist decommissioning engineering software (LEOPARD). Orano’s UK consulting business enters its 40th year of operation in 2017, with industry recognised experts in a range of specialist technical services. With core skills in waste management and decommissioning and nuclear safety cases, Orano also offers expert services in human factors, shielding and dose assessment, waste management and decommissioning, radioactive materials transport, site licensing and de-licensing, radiological protection, nuclear fire safety, nuclear and radiological hazard assessment and specialist technical training.
Orano’s UK engineering team has also been embedded in the North West since 2015, working with major waste management and decommissioning clients on some of the UK’s most complex engineering projects. With several highly experienced and expert members of the team, Orano’s engineering capability draws on both a wealth of UK specific and European nuclear industry experience.
