Capula Lead Engineer named in the Women’s Engineering Society’s Top 50 Women in Engineering 2023
Caroline Roche, Lead Engineer, Capula, has been selected as one of the Women’s Engineering Society’s (WES) Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) 2023: Safety and Security.
Founded in 1919, WES, a charitable organisation, aims to support women in engineering to fulfil their potential whilst helping the industry to become more inclusive. The WES Top 50 Women in Engineering Award celebrates female engineers by promoting a different theme each year to recognise engineers from different disciplines. This year’s theme recognises those who are engaged in safety and security and who support other women in engineering to do the same.
Caroline, universally praised by the business, has been recognised for her work in developing software for industrial control systems primarily for decommissioning and waste management projects, helping people to stay safe by keeping them at a distance from hazardous materials and environments.
Commenting on her achievement, Caroline said “I’m extremely proud to be selected as one of the WES Top 50 Women in Engineering, it means so much to me. When I first heard about the awards and read about the amazing women selected, I thought this is something I would really like to work towards achieving.
When I submitted my application, I was happy that I was able to recognise that the work I do was important; to then receive the “Congratulations” e-mail was just fantastic. I think I am still a bit in shock to realise that I can count myself among such amazing women”.

An advocate for Women in Engineering for many years, Caroline has actively lead and driven this agenda in our business which is a credit to her passion and determination to inspire and support her fellow engineers”.
Caroline, a keen supporter of STEM and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) initiatives, chairs Capula’s Women’s Network and is passionate about raising awareness of diversity and inclusion topics, whilst providing advice and a support network to anyone who needs it.
An active mentor, Caroline continues to offer support and guidance to young engineers and is currently working towards upgrading her 30 Hours Engagement Award to 50 hours by continuing her work as a STEM ambassador.
