OPERATIONAL MANAGER VACANCY

Prima Uno is due to embark on some historic and significant projects which will support Cumbria and the UK in an expanding market in nuclear and Fusion power. We are not only commencing new major frameworks in the coming weeks but also commencing our next decade of Prima Uno.

Due to the continued growth of Prima Uno, we are looking to expand our management team. The first layer of this change is that we have a great opportunity for an Operational Manager to support the Managing Director and lead our UK team. We are looking for someone experienced in managing large portfolios and developing clients and business. Experience in the nuclear, new nuclear build, civil, utilities (water etc.), transport, and rail sectors is required.

Due to the nature of the role, we need someone to be local to the office which is located at Westlakes Science Park near Whitehaven. We are happy to consider support in relocation from across the UK. The currently envisaged role will include the below listed duties, however, we have the flexibility to tailor the details of this role and its responsibilities based on individual candidates.

We would like a proactive and dynamic individual who is well respected in the nuclear sector. We would like an individual to bring in lessons learned and best practice from other sectors or projects. On our frameworks you will act as Programme Manager or Project Director on regional frameworks. You will liaise with key clients, maintaining strong client relationships and driving continuous improvement in delivery.

Key Duties:

  • Technical delivery and project management
  • Client management/attendance at client events - Business Development, e.g., promoting Prima Uno services, attendance at associated events, networking, tender development.
  • Assisting the lead team and resource manager in recruitment and bringing in new people to Prima Uno - working with our dedicated talent team for new and potential hires as well as building a knowledge of the local market and encouraging interest in Prima Uno.
  • Being a point of contact for the Project Delivery Services/Project Management division and supporting other areas of Prima Uno if MD and Head of Project Controls are on leave.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships with local and national clients.
  • Lead on work winning for your area through bid management, bid writing, production of proposals, fees, scope definition, and quality answers in response to client tenders, in accordance with Prima Uno’s bid management system.
  • Client or contractor engagement to lead discussions on project delivery solutions, to technical and non-technical clients – both during project delivery and bidding stages.
  • Identify opportunities to promote value propositions with clients.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Lead the efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, complying with Prima Uno business management governance.
  • Undertake technical review and supervision of project deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership in programme and project management.
  • Assist Prima Uno with bringing on new Heads of departments, business development and new employees.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Project Management), Chartered Member of a recognised engineering institution.
  • Extensive hands-on experience of project and bid delivery and leadership in the nuclear, new nuclear build (SMR experience desirable) civil, water and/or wastewater engineering sector.
  • Highly motivated, organised and with a strong desire to promote technical excellence within project teams and wider Prima Uno team/practice.
  • Experience of working with sub-contractors to deliver the successful implementation of Prima Uno projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team including with Clients, Contractors and colleagues alike.
  • Proven track record of innovation in various sectors.
  • Flexible approach to work type and locations for project assignments, including overseas working or visits, if required.
  • Change Management expertise gained in a management role.
  • Experience of successful delivery of multiple complex services.
  • Some financial understanding - previous P&L responsibility.
