Brief Description
- The high flux reactor of the Institute Max von Laue-Paul Langevin (ILL) produces neutrons for scientific research. They are guided through coated glass tubes from the reactor to the experiments. It is necessary to close the neutron beam either to work on the neutron guide and instruments, or for safety.
- This specification concerns the supply of a shutter made of carbon steel and lead. This equipment will be one of the barriers between the reactor and the outside world, which means that it is subject to very strict quality control during the manufacturing process. The main body is built from steel in which will be cast pure lead. The preliminary consultation of suppliers will describe the details for the fabrication of the lead shutter.
- Please find further information attached.
- Drawings have not been provided but will be sent to companies if they are selected by ILL to receive the full technical specification.
