Congratulations to DM Engineering
I was incredibly honoured last week to be invited to say a few words and officially cut the ribbon at a member’s new, much bigger premises. DM Engineering was set up by Darren Martin in 2019 and entered a strategic partnership with a fellow BECBC member, CORE Nuclear Group in 2024.
I remember shortly after I became CEO here at BECBC I visited DM Engineering in their previous premises. Even then the business was outgrowing the space and had capacity for growth. I also remember how much Darren’s dad was part of that business success and while he’s sadly passed away and so wasn’t with us last week I know he’d have been incredibly proud to see where the business is now.
I’m always interested in how businesses grow and there are various factors that impact that but for me the key is always in the people.
DM Engineering becoming part of the CORE Nuclear Group doesn’t just mean more financial investment and new premises. It means the sustainability of a wider team-and what a team! Winners of the BECBC Business of the Year Award in 2024 this team is a high performing one.
As both companies have been long term members of BECBC I’ve watched a classic supply chain relationship of customer and supplier develop into a collaborative growth strategy that won’t just benefit the companies but also our local area, particularly Maryport where the new premises are based. The investment in the building at one of the entrances to the town builds on the public sector investment in Maryport , puts a team of 10 skilled people into the town centre and should provide a moment of pride for the town.
So I know that DM Engineering will got from strength to strength and I’m looking forward to watching that happen. From all of us at BECBC congratulations!
